I also received a call offering same promotion. Disappointed to learn that ATT/Direct TV does not have a process in place make inquiries like this public knowledge so as to protect their customers.

Offering a promotion To existing direct tv customers to renew contract. You go buy a 280.00 gift card from eBay call them back at this number and Tell you they will apply it to your account. No payments for 4 months. If you do with 24 hours they will also send you back a visa gift card for 150.00. ATT has confirmed this is a scam. They NEVER ask for payments with gift cards. Caller tries to convince you that eBay or Amazon is sponsoring the promotion to help promote their gift card sales.
