I just got a call today from 844-550-9626. First thing he did was try to verify if he was talking to (my name) after a while of words I played along curious and verified that I was. He then said they were calling to warn me about litigation that will start tomorrow from an xxxx law firm for a debt to US Bank- or for xxxx amount. I never had a US Bank account. I asked who he / they were and he mentioned (some) a law firm. I tried to ask pertinent more specific questions but he was evasive. After 1 or 2 min. of this I got tired of him evading my questions and he seemed to be annoyed with me. He threatened the litigation again and hung up on me.

My question is If this were a legitimate law firm calling me over a long forgotten debt would there be anything to gain by verifying my name to a phone number? And assuming as I do that it is a scam what would anyone have to gain by verifying my name to my phone number? Surely no one falls for something like this and gives up money or personal info. Right?? So why do it? Is there any chance that this could for real ?
