This has been verified by AT&T/DirectTV that it is a scam. They call pretending to be AT&T and they know just enough of your information prior to calling/texting you that it comes off as pretty legit, but they are partnering with Ebay and offering you 50% off your bill for 3 years, if you pay for 6 months up front. Sounds great doesn't it? That's when you know something is amiss. They will not take your credit card information over the phone; instead they tell you that since Ebay is picking up the tab, they ask you to get the amount of your bill that equals up to 6 months in Ebay gift cards and then call this special number back 855-716-0559 to pay your bill. NEVER PAY A BILL WITH GIFT CARDS YOU HAVE ZERO PROTECTION. Instead, hang up the phone and call the company customer service line directly, do not call the numbers they provide you with to call.
