Called as CRA saying to call back immediately to pay an outstanding income tax invoice. When I called, the voice message says it's CRA help desk to wait for the next available officer. Then the voice message kicks in asking to leave your name. This number should be banned.

Good thing I looked into the phone number first before calling back. I was at work when this number called. Telling me it's the CRA and i need to call immediately or else they will get me arrested

Can the authorities do anything to stop such callers from continuing what they are doing? To actually make them pay a high fine for disturbing the peace of others? What if it is an old person, in their 70-80s? They probably won't search the net to find out the origin of the call and will be deceived by these criminals.

Guys pretend to be Canadian CRA officers. They are either India or Pakistani scamsters. I called back the number and abused them in hindi and punjabi. His accent dropped and started speaking Hindi!! It was fun. Please do the same with them and I help you with some abusive language if you need any! Kick their ass!

Claim to be CRA. Told me I was going to get arrested if I didn't call. Called them and it automatically went through to some automated voice and told me to hold for connection to next available officer. Finally got through to a live person who sounded shady and asked me why I was calling them. I told them I was told to call them. He then hung up on me. I called them repeated after and they kept on hanging up on me.
