I believe that this number is a SCAM. Got an automated call saying my SSN had been implicated in criminal activity and that enforcement action was being taken against me. I phoned back and was told on the line that my name and ID had been used to get a rental car which was found with traces of blood and drugs and also had been used to open several bank accounts and credit agreements. This is strange as I am a new to the US, having just moved here from the UK with work, so I have no American credit history and have personally found it very difficult to get credit to buy cars, credit cards and household appliances etc - so it is strange that someone else could use my identity so freely to get credit. Anyway, when it became clear that I was suspicious of them and wasn't going to give over any further personal information they hung up.

I don't answer calls that I don't know so a robo voicemail was left saying to call back. I called back and they answered as Social Security office. I already knew it was a scam and started messing with him. Got really pissed off when I said it sounded like he was in India or Pakistan and asked him if he wanted me to go buy some iTunes gift cards for him. Then he started yelling at me saying he's going to report me to the cops. Then he hung up.
