Who called from the number +1 (080) 080-0153

I had a call from 02087735530. The caller (with an Asian accent) said she was from BT tech department. I challenged this, because I've had similar calls before that turned out to be a different telephone provider trying to sign me over to them. She went on to say that she could send a confirmation email or text, proving that she was indeed BT. At this point I asked her to explain the what she wanted and warned that I would hang up if I got the feeling she was just trying to sell me something. She said she was calling because my IP address had been changed from private to public and that as a result, anyone could now use my IP address, in fact 5 people from different locations around the world, where using it at that very moment. I suggested that BT just go ahead and change it back to private. She said that she wasn't able to do this and that I would need to go to my PC and she could guide me through the procedure. At this point my scepticism hit 100% and I said that I would hang up now and call BT myself. She asked if I wanted the number, I said she could give me the number, she then quoted 0800800153. She suggested that I might have a long wait, on hold and in the meantime my IP address could be misused. I almost accepted the number as genuine, since it is an 0800 number. Instead I typed it in here first and am glad that I did, judging by the reports listed above mine.

had a email saying item order on it's way from BT - phone this number if not all ok. email looked very good just like a BT site. when phoned was asked for info and card details but i put the phone down. do not phone if you get a email.

I received similar call from this number saying that I had issues with my broadband. I said I would call through BT customer support

I was called from this number at 10:35am. claiming to be from the Technical Dept of BT. He said I had serious problems with my internet connection that could cause me major problems. He told me to log on to my device and he would talk me through the problems.I told him my device was upstairs so could I ring him back and needle his contact details. I was shocked when he gave the number 0800 800 153. He was a foreign gentleman possibly Asian or pak*stan origin that gave his name as Brian Styles claiming to be from the Technical Dept of BT.
